Under the general supervision of the Education/Disabilities Manager and the direct guidance of the Early Head Start Center Supervisor, the Early Head Start Infant/Toddler Teacher functions as a primary care giver who plans, organizes and conducts a full range of developmentally appropriate activities for up to four (4) assigned children that are eight weeks through three years of age (including children with special needs). The Infant/Toddler Teacher promotes each child’s growth and development by creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate environment in which children can develop personal relationships, experiment, make choices, solve problems, and develop age-appropriate social and self-help skills. The Infant//Toddler Teacher works to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly physical environment; supervises all classroom activities; participates in parent education and shares responsibility for parent involvement. The Infant/Toddler Teacher may be assigned to a variety of classrooms/centers and tasks as needed to achieve program goals and to ensure regulatory compliance.
