AmeriCorps Launches Two New Programs in Nevada

The new 2010-2011 AmeriCorps program year is set to begin in Nevada. This marks the 16th year Nevada Volunteers, as the state commission on national and community service, has awarded AmeriCorps grants to organizations statewide. Awards total $2,389,984, supporting a record 341 AmeriCorps members, and includes two new initiatives, the Children’s Cabinet of Reno and the statewide Clean Energy Corps. It is the biggest Nevada AmeriCorps year yet. With state and local budgets so stressed, Nevada Volunteers is pleased to be able to bring these federal dollars into our state.

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada announced that Patrick J. Raglow has bee hired as the Vice President of Administration. Mr. Raglow comes to Catholic Charities after a successful Air Force career with assignments in Europe, Asia and across the United States. He was privileged to have commanded at flight, squadron and Group levels with his most recent assignment as the 505th Operations Group Commander at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, after which he retired in the fall of 2009. Mr. Raglow has a wife and three children, is active in his parish of St John Neumann Catholic Church, and is a member of the Air Force Association and the Knights of Columbus.
